Metrics about research funding

I collect publicly available data from web sources about publicly funded research projects. This data includes the amount of funding, involved people, project duration and subjects. This data will be used for modelling purposes, but also to map the public German research system. How are researchers interacting with each other and how policy makers have control over the direction? What is the role of networks and peers?

For this project I build some Python parsers and web crawler for common data bases and web sites. I use Prolog to filter the data and other tools and frameworks for data representation, like Gephi and Pyhton matplotlib, Pandas and Bohek.

I cannot show details until my data collection is done and the results are published, but I plan to release the data set as well(probably anonymized).
